The first South Texas Showdown Classic Car Show in San Antonio Texas was held on May 24, 2008 . The show was created by Rick  Garza and John Canavaholo owners of Metal Werks Garage, with the help of the Metal Werks Team and

many volunteers. One of the primary goals was to have a family oriented atmosphere, along with Live bands, Great food, Various raffles, Door prizes and much more. South Texas Showdown had the participation of the Center for The Intrepid, The Food Bank and The San Antonio Blood Bank. Volunteers along with many spectators made generous donations.

The success of South Texas Showdown was made possible by the Metal Werks team and the help with over 100 individuals who gave their time to make the car show a memorable event. Because of the success of the event we were able to have a 2nd  South Texas Showdown at Javelina Harley Davidson in Boerne, Texas on May 23, 2009.

Metal Werks Garage was able to grant a local High School Student with a $1,000 Scholarship seeking a degree at ST. Phillips College in the automotive field. This major goal was able to be accomplished  with South Texas Showdown and the help from Sponsors and Donations from the community. The Scholarship is one of the most important goals to Metal Werks Garage. They feel the need to give back to the community for Education, which is often over looked and would like to help fulfill the dreams for a local student in need of financial assistance. The response from the First and second So-Tex Showdown was great success that Metal Werks Garage is indeed to have a success.
A special Thank You to all who Volunteered.
